Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Defense and the Chairman of Board of Directors of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, signed on March 28 with Softbank Group Chairman and CEO Masayoshi Son, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up “Solar Power Project 2030” to be the largest of its kind in the world in the field of solar energy.

Capital Stage and ISIF to invest €140m with Power Capital in 20 solar PV parks in Ireland

Capital Stage, a Hamburg-based solar and wind park operator announced this week a partnership with the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF) to co-invest in the Power Capital (PC) portfolio, consisting of more than 20 parks with a total generating capacity of 140 megawatts (MW). It marks the first time that ISIF has committed to financing solar park developments in the country.

MIGA to support construction of six solar PV plants in Egypt with $102.6M in financing

MIGA, a member of the World Bank Group, announced on January 9 guarantees of up to $102.6m in support of the construction, operation and maintenance of six solar power plants in Egypt. The power plants will collectively have a combined capacity of up to 250MW, and represent the first set of a total 12 projects approved by MIGA’s board in support of Egypt’s Solar Feed in Tariff (FiT) program.

ACWA Power closes financing for 61.3MW solar IPP project in Jordan

Saudi energy company ACWA Power announced that the 61.3 MWp Risha PV IPP project achieved financial close on 20th December 2017.The financing comprises senior loans of US$ 22 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and US$ 16 million each from Deutsche Investitions- Und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Mbh (DEG) and Arab Bank to Risha for Solar Power Projects PSC.

Kong Sun acquires 100MW solar power plant for approximately USD 113M in China

Hong Kong-based Kong Sun Holdings Limited which invests in and operates solar power plants across various provinces and regions in China, announced on December 13 that it has acquired a solar power plant project located in Baofeng County in mid-eastern China’s Henan province with a total installed capacity of 100MW for an aggregate consideration of approximately RMB743 million (USD 113 Million).
