Voltalia selected to build and operate one of the largest solar plants in Eastern Africa

International renewable energy company Voltalia, headquared in Paris, France, announced that it has signed an agreement with Spanish independent power producer Alten Energias Renovables, whereby Voltaria is to provide construction and operation & maintenance services to Alten Energias Renovables for a 55 MW new solar plant in Kenya, one of the largest solar plants in Eastern Africa.

Heliatek completes solar OPV installation for Samsung in South Korea

German organic photovoltaic (OPV) solar film panels manufacturer Heliatek announced it has successfully completed its first installation project in South Korea. Together with strategic partner SAMSUNG Engineering, Heliateck intalled 160 m²  of HeliaSol  modules  on the roof of a gangway between two large office buildings of SAMSUNG Electronics innovation campus in Suwon City near Seoul.

Lightsource BP to develop 130MW solar PV project in Alabama

Lightsource BP announced  it has partnered with Alabama Municipal Electric Authority (AMEA) to develop a 130 MWDC / 100 MWAC solar energy project in Montgomery County, Alabama. Lightsource BP will finance, develop, build, own, and operate the solar facility and will deliver energy to AMEA under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Scatec Solar and MT Energy to build solar projects totaling 485 MW in Vietnam

Norwegian integrated independent solar power producer, Scatec Solar, announced that it has partnered with Vietnamese energy company MT Energy, to develop, finance, construct and operate large-scale solar projects in Vietnam. The strategic collaboration agreement covers three projects located in Binh Phuoc, Quang Tri, and Nghe An provinces. The projects total 485 MW and are targeted to be realised under a new feed-in tariff regime that is expected to be launched later this year.

Ciel & Terre starts construction on California’s largest floating solar system for the town of Windsor

France-based floating solar specialist, Ciel & Terre International, announced that its unit in the US and the Town of Windsor officials have started construction of what will be the largest floating solar power system in the state of California. The floating solar array will be installed on the Town’s largest recycled water storage pond and is expected to meet 90 percent of the Town’s water treatment and pump facilities’ energy needs.
