Solar Power could grow in Europe by 80% by 2019, report says

SolarPower Europe, the new European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA), released yesterday its flagship market report the “Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2015-2019“.

According to the report solar power had another record year in 2014 with 40 GW being connected worldwide beating the previous year’s record of 38.4 GW.

Desert farms could power flight with sunshine and seawater

The aviation industry is a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2011 aviation contributed around 3% of Australia’s emissions. Despite improvements in efficiency, global aviation emissions are expected to grow 70% by 2020 from 2005. While the industry is seeking new renewable fuel sources, growing biofuels takes up valuable land and water that could be otherwise used to grow food.

U.S. Department of the Interior approves construction of three solar projects in Nevada totalling 440MW

Solar PV is the largest renewable energy employer with 2.5 million jobs worldwide, says new IRENA report

U.S. Navy to lease land to build 8 solar plants on Guam totaling 40 MW

According to Stars and Stripes news release the U.S. Navy is planning to lease about 192 acres of land on Guam for 37 years to the local electric company Guam Power Authority for construction of a system of photovoltaic solar panels in eight locations to generate about 40 megawatts of power.
