RP Construction Services recognized as the 10th Top Solar Contractor in the U.S.
Monterey, CALIF., April 22, 2021 (Solar Business Hub) — California-based solar contractor RP Construction Services, Inc. (RPCS ) announces it has been recognized as a top solar contractor with a ranking of No. 10 overall on the list developed annually by Solar Power World magazine ranking U.S. solar firms in the utility, commercial and residential market by the number of kilowatts installed in the previous year.
This year’s Top Solar Contractors list ranks RPCS at No. 3 in the Installation Subcontractor category and No. 10 in the Utility Contractor category, as well as No. 1 in Illinois, No. 4 in New York, and No. 8 in California, among other top state rankings.
The solar industry in the United States is on the upswing, thanks to a pro-renewables presidential administration and increased concern over climate change. RPCS has had a front-row seat to this action, with business increasing nearly 80% over the last year.
RPCS completed nearly 900MW of solar power in 2020. To date, it has completed more than 2.3GW, providing turnkey design, structural engineering, procurement/supply, mechanical installation, and specialty services to EPCs, developers, and municipal utilities. Headquartered in Monterey, California, RPCS employs approximately 250 team members and maintains facilities in California, Mississippi, and Kansas.
The U.S. solar industry grew 43% in 2020, installing more solar panels on homes, businesses, and across the country than any other year on record. The federal government passed a two-year extension on the solar investment tax credit (ITC) at the end of 2020, which will further accelerate solar adoption across all market segments. After installing 19.2 GW in 2020, research firm Wood Mackenzie expects the U.S. solar market to quadruple by 2030.
Kelly Pickerel, editor in chief of Solar Power World said:
“Not even COVID-19 closures and slowdowns could prevent the solar industry from installing fantastic numbers last year. The Solar Power World team is so glad to recognize over 400 companies on the 2021 Top Solar Contractors list that not only survived a pandemic but thrived in spite of it.”
RPCS Chief Sales Officer Alex Smith said:
“The Top Contractors List isn’t a competition, but we do think we’re in a race against time to complete projects and make the switch to renewable energy. Scaling while performing at the highest safety and quality levels simultaneously is a must. RPCS has grown very quickly to be ranked the tenth largest contractor in the US with lots of talent, hard work, and lessons to show for it. We picked the right product to be at our core with Array Technologies’ DuraTrack HZ and we’ve been focused on building a platform and process for scaling that we’re going to be sharing with others in a new way this year called ‘Come Build With Us.’ We are honored to have been selected for so many projects and we want to support other contractors who want to grow and be able to complete lots of projects successfully as well.”
