The Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) announced the awarding of the tender for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the project Noor Midelt I to the consortium led by EDF Renouvelables (France), in collaboration with Masdar (United Arab Emirates) and Green of Africa (Morocco) after a competitive international bidding process.

HM King Mohammed VI chaired on Thursday, the official commissioning ceremony of the first plant of the Noor Ouarzazat solar complex (Noor I), and the official launch of the construction works of the second and third plants (Noor II and Noor III) of the largest concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in the world.
Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, Masdar announced on Wednesday the partnership with Morocco’s Office National de l’Electricité et de l’Eau Potable (National Electricity and Water Supply), ONEE, to design, supply and install 17,670 Solar Home Systems across 940 villages in the Kingdom of Morocco. When complete, the solar homes, along with broader electrification initiatives, will result in 99 percent of rural Morocco having access to energy by the end of 2017 – a critical resource that underpins economic development.
