Canopy Power has completed a solar PV-energy storage microgrid for sustainable island resort Batu Batu. With an estimated renewable energy contribution of 25 per cent, the microgrid will produce approximately 216 MWh of clean electricity and reduce diesel use for the resort by around 58,000 litres annually. This translates to a reduction of 180 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Malaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced it has has inked an agreement with Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) through its renewable energy retail arm, GSPARX Sdn Bhd (GSPARX) to install solar panels on four of MAB’s buildings at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Norwegian integrated independent solar power producer, Scatec Solar, announced it has connect to the grid its second solar power plant in Malaysia, the 65 MW (DC) Jasin plant. This plant is the second of three 65 MW solar plants under completion by Scatec Solar in Malaysia.
Panasonic Corporation announced it has reached an agreement with GS-Solar (China) Company Ltd. to collaborate in the photovoltaic business. Under the agreement, Panasonic will transfer its solar manufacturing subsidiary, Panasonic Energy Malaysia, to GS-Solar, while separating its photovoltaic research and development function in order to establish a new company with the Chinese partner. Panasonic and GS-Solar will jointly operate and invest in this new company in Japan.

Scatec Solar ASA, headquartered in Oslo, Norway announced on December 13 that it has won a 40 MW DC (30 MW AC) PV project in a tender held by the Energy Commission in Malaysia.
