CEPSA to develop three new solar PV plants totalling 400 MW in Spain
Spanish energy company CEPSA announced that it will develop three new photovoltaic plants with an estimated capacity of 400 megawatts in the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.
Located in Ciudad Real, in the towns of Campo de Criptana and Arenales de San Gregorio, these three solar plants will involve an investment of more than 280 million euros.
It is expected that construction will start at the beginning of 2025, generating more than 420 jobs, and reaching nearly 700 jobs in the peak phases of their development.
Once in operation, these three projects will produce an estimated annual energy output of 840 GWh, which is equivalent to the consumption of approximately 250,000 households for a year, that is, nearly one third of the domestic consumption of Castilla-La Mancha. Furthermore, the production of this renewable energy will avoid the annual emission of 336,000 tons of CO2.
With these three solar parks CEPSA will have nine solar plants totalling 1.2 GW in the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, and it would have invested over 840 million euros. These solar plants will produce the equivalent to the total domestic consumption of the entire region and avoid the total annual emission of over a million tons of CO2.
Head of Development of photovoltaic projects of CEPSA, Geronimo de Angul, pointed out:
“Castilla-La Mancha is a strategic community for the development of CEPSA’s renewable energy portfolio, which will allow us to drive our Positive Motion strategy.”
