Google executive invests in Helio Energy to advance solar energy in New Zealand
New Zealand based utility-scale solar developer Helio Energy announced it has received a Series A capital investment from private investor Urs Hölzle, a senior Google executive and renewable energy strategist who has led the team that developed Google’s global 24×7 carbon-free by 2030 commitment.
Helio Energy reports it has developed in the last two years a pipeline of approximately 1 GW of grid-connected solar developments across New Zealand.
Jason McDonald said:
“We expect to be making site development announcements and resource consent applications over the coming months. We will also be looking to engage on regulatory settings that can support solar developments right across the country.”
