IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, announced on July 9, that IFC InfraVentures, the global infrastructure project development fund, and Scatec Solar, a Norwegian company specializing in photovoltaic solar systems, have signed documents to develop the $55 million Scatec Segou solar power project in Mali with a local developer, Africa Power 1 SA.

Jordan breaks ground on largest solar PV project in the Middle East

The Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Monday a major solar power venture has got underway in Jordan’s southern governorate of Ma’an with investments totaling $170 million and targeted electricity output of 52.5 megawatts.

Shams Ma’an Power Generation PSC, the company which will carry the project, launched the construction phase of the electricity generation venture which will use photovoltaic cells. The venture is the first of its kind in Jordan and the largest in the region.

German company IBC SOLAR, a global leader in photovoltaic systems, has completed the construction of an 11 MWp photovoltaic (PV) plant in Pokhran, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The PV plant is IBC SOLAR’s fifth megawatt project in India since 2013.
