The Government of Jordan, along with Abu Dhabi’s Enviromena Power Systems and TSK of Spain, inaugurated on April 28 the Quweira solar power plant. Located in the south near Aqaba, the 103 megawatt project is nearly double that of existing plants in the country and spans the size of nearly 300 football fields.
Saudi energy company ACWA Power announced that the 61.3 MWp Risha PV IPP project achieved financial close on 20th December 2017.The financing comprises senior loans of US$ 22 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and US$ 16 million each from Deutsche Investitions- Und Entwicklungsgesellschaft Mbh (DEG) and Arab Bank to Risha for Solar Power Projects PSC.
Finnish technology group Wärtsilä today announced it has signed an EPC contract to supply a 52 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant to AM Solar BV/ Jordan, a joint venture between energy provider AES Jordan and Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co., Ltd. The order was booked in November 2017.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan (MEMR) awarded last Sunday the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant to date in the country to the the consortium formed by the Spain’s TSK Group and UAE’s Enviromena Power Systems , as the main project forming part of the ambitious Jordanian development plan for renewable energies, which has set a target of 10 per cent of the country’s energy supply to come from renewable sources by 2020.
