German car manufacturer Audi announced it has put into operation Europe’s biggest photovoltaic rooftop installation on two logistics centers at its Hungarian site in Győr.
German-based energy group E.ON announced yesterday that it will be building together with Audi a solar energy park on the roofs of the two logistics centers of its plant in Győr, Hungary, covering about 160,000 square meters. This project will become Europe’s largest photovoltaic system installed on a building at the Audi Hungaria plant in Győr.
German car manufacturer Audi and Alta Devices, a subsidiary of the Chinese solar-cell specialist, Hanergy, are working together on this development project. With this cooperation, the partners aim to generate solar energy to increase the range of electric vehicles. The first prototype is to be built by the end of 2017.
