First solar thermal tower plant in Latin America completes lifting and installation of its solar receiver at 220 meters high

Spanish engineering and renewable energy company Abengoa announced that the Cerro Dominador solar thermal project, owned by EIG Global Energy Partners and built by Abengoa and ACCIONA in the Atacama Desert in Chile, has just achieved one of the key milestones of its development before its entry into operation: the raising and installation of its solar receiver at 220 meters high, which was placed in the highest part of the central tower of the complex, which is surrounded by 10,600 heliostats.

Abengoa’s KaXu Solar One: First commercial concentrated solar plant launched in South Africa

Abengoa, the international company that applies innovative technology solutions for sustainability in the energy and environmental sectors, and state-owned financier, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), together with KaXu Community Trust have launched a 100 MW solar plant near the town of Pofadder (Northern Cape Province), capable of providing clean and sustainable power to approximately 80,000 homes in South Africa.
