GreenYellow closes financing for one of the largest solar power plants in Mauritius

January 26, 2023/in Business/by Solar Business Hub

Paris-based provider of solar power solutions, GreenYellow, announced it has concluded a transaction worth Rs 350M (7.5M EUR) with Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) to finance a solar photovoltaic power plant Arsenal, Mauritius.

The new solar power plant is expected to be commissioned during 2023. Located about 10km north of the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis, the new solar power plant will produce 20 GWh of green energy, enough to power more than 4,500 Mauritian homes, avoiding the emission of more than 13,000 tons of CO2 per year.

GreenYellow has previously built in Mauritius a 16 MWp photovoltaic solar ground-mount farm located in Solitude, which was inaugurated in 2019.

A leader in photovoltaic production in the Indian Ocean region, with more than 100 MWp installed, GreenYellow is strengthening its presence in Mauritius by becoming one of the key contributors to the objectives of the Mauritian government, led by the Central Electricity Board (CEB), to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to 60% by 2030.
