The European solar energy association SolarPower Europe released its Global Market Outlook 2019-2023 report at leading solar trade event Intersolar Europe 2019, which took place in Germany from 14 to 17 May 2019, showing that solar power reached important milestones in 2018, with an even more optimistic picture forecasted for the next five years.
Solar jobs and wealth creation in Europe are set to increase to nearly 175,000 full time jobs and 9,500M value added by 2021, according to a new EY report. The EY report also shows that an increase in ambition for the European Union 2030 renewable energy target from 27% to 35% will result in more than 120,000 new solar jobs alone.
SolarPower Europe today released its flagship market report the “Global Market Outlook for Solar Power 2016-2020” showing that a total of 229 GW of solar power was installed in the world end of 2015, an over 45-fold market increase in only 10 years. After the 50 GW annual level of newly added solar power capacity was reached in 2015, the global solar market is well on its way to crack the 60 GW mark in 2016 – the most likely scenario forecasts around 62 GW of newly commissioned solar power this year.
