Finnish technology group Wärtsilä announced on November 24 it has received a letter of award for a 95,3MWp (75MWac) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Nigeria. The award was received from Pan Africa Solar Ltd, a developer of solar PV power plants focused on Africa. This will be Wärtsilä’s first utility-scale solar PV project exclusively for on-grid application.
The Nissan Motor Parts Center in Amsterdam announced this month that is it has begun the construction of the largest collective solar roof in the Netherlands. It consists of 8,911 panels, each able to generate 2.7 million kWh. Part of the project has been financed by crowdfunding via ZonnepanelenDelen [Solar Panel Bonds].
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Jordan (MEMR) awarded last Sunday the construction of the largest photovoltaic plant to date in the country to the the consortium formed by the Spain’s TSK Group and UAE’s Enviromena Power Systems , as the main project forming part of the ambitious Jordanian development plan for renewable energies, which has set a target of 10 per cent of the country’s energy supply to come from renewable sources by 2020.
