SIMEC Energy Australia, a South Australian electricity retailer in the National Electricity Market and member of Sanjeev Gupta’s global GFG Alliance, announced the news of securing development approval for the 280MW Cultana Solar Farm, one of the largest solar farms in Australia just outside of Whyalla.
The Energy Division of Spanish infrastructure and renewable energy company ACCIONA has developed a pioneering solution at global level in the field of hybridization between wind and photovoltaic power. It consists of covering a wind turbine tower with flexible organic panels to produce energy for the internal electricity consumption of the turbine. The innovative project will allow the study of the performance of the organic panels, an emerging photovoltaic technology, and their application to improve wind turbine efficiency.
U.S. solar developer Pivot Energy, headquartered in Denver, Colorado, announced it has been awarded 11 community solar projects in Illinois totaling approximately 29.36 MW(dc) of new solar capacity. Pivot Energy’s allocation is the second largest portfolio awarded to a community solar developer in the state.
BayWa r.e. is building Germany’s first subsidy-free solar park, proving that solar energy can now compete against conventional energy sources in Germany without any financial subsidies. The project Barth V, some 30 kilometres east of Stralsund, has a total capacity of 8.8 MW and construction will start at the beginning of June.
German solar and energy storage EPC company BELECTRIC is further increasing its footprint in India’s ever-growing solar industry by completing two large-scale PV rooftop projects. With a combined capacity of 26 Megawatt peak (MWp), these solar power plants are amongst Asia’s largest rooftop installations.
