U.S. based solar company SunPower announced in October that it had completed in under six months the installation of a 8.79 megawatt solar system spanning across four parking garages at Toyota Motor North America‘s new 100-acre headquarters in Plano, Texas. SunPower was also responsible for the original design of the solar system.
Nestlé Middle East announced yesterday that it has signed agreements, witnessed by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), with Yellow Door Energy, Dubai’s leading provider of lease-to-own solar power solutions, and ALEC Energy, a DEWA-approved solar contractor, to install solar photovoltaic panels that will provide renewable energy to three manufacturing sites in Dubai, and contribute to the reduction of 6000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
Business information provider IHS Markit announced on December 14 that global photovoltaic (PV) demand is forecast to reach 108 gigawatts (GW) in 2018, largely driven by an improvement in the outlook in China, according to the latest edition of its PV Demand Market Tracker. IHS Markit expects strong demand from the Chinese market to continue on the back of strong policy support, a successful transition to a more diverse market and strong momentum in the distributed-PV (DPV) sector.
Hong Kong-based Kong Sun Holdings Limited which invests in and operates solar power plants across various provinces and regions in China, announced on December 13 that it has acquired a solar power plant project located in Baofeng County in mid-eastern China’s Henan province with a total installed capacity of 100MW for an aggregate consideration of approximately RMB743 million (USD 113 Million).
